Big Weekend

I am at a Professional Convention all weekend interviewing for jobs! I made motivational items for friends also interviewing. Every bit helps. I submited for the Scrapbook Express DT. We find out on Tuesday. Keep your fingers crossed. Better yet, keep your fingers crossed for a new job for ME. Then I can afford to do all this card making. Have a super Saturday!

Over the badness

I am ALIVE! It was touch and go for a while, OK not really, but it felt like it. Still a little shaky, but I am back in business. So, I am trying to post my submissions for the Scrapbook Express DT call and I am having no luck getting my pictures uploaded. I am sure it is complete user error, but I have no clue how to make it work. I sent another plea to the webmaster to help me. We'll see what happens.

Back to sharing number 3 out of 4. I ended up loving the color combo, which is out of my character. The dark green circle behind the happy day is shelf liner from the dollar store, probably not acid free, but I like the effect and cheap, to boot.

Before I go, I wanted to say thanks to Colleen S. of Distinctive Touches and Jeri B. from Memories from the Attic for sharing some blog candy with me. Colleen needed a name for her new card class and I came up with Keep'em Coming Cards. She made a few adjustments, but stuck with Keep'em Coming. Jeri B. donated the candy. So thank you, ladies! I can't wait for my package to arrive.

Happy Friday!

No good

I am SICK! My nephew has brought the badness to the whole family. My dad is the only one not infected. Mom and I experienced the fun late last night and it continues today. Spending the day in bed.

More cards later today or tomorrow....

Number 2 of 4

As promised, I updated the post form yesterday so you would have the details. I did forget to mention yesterday’s card is based on the My Sketch World card sketch from March 7 - getting a jump-start on my DT assignments!

Next, I used an image from my Scrap Chic Card Club meeting as the focus. I mentioned how we stamped on acetate and then painted the imaged with acrylic paint – this is the final product. I created frames for the image using Bazzill paper and patterned paper from, Kelly Panacci by Sandylion. All were inked on the edges with Chestnut Roan Color Box Chalk ink. I used the scraps to create the flower embellishment on the bottom corner, added a few ribbon accents and VIOLA! I was on a roll. That is just two out of four. Really, love my homemade flower, so creative!

Not just one but FOUR

Apparently saying it enough does pay off... I made four cards on Saturday and Sunday. Next to my post is number one - I started with a white card added light green cardstock, Bazzill, I think. I aged both papers with Color Box Chalk Inks, Chestnut Roan and Lime Pastel. The Large panel, I made myself using the embossing resist method. I ink a piece of cardstock using multiple stamps and inks, Adirondack, Color Box, and Palette, to name a few. Then I used a Hero Arts shadow stamp, Versa Mark ink and Stamp-n Stuff to create the lines Blue Pearl embossing powders. Once you heat the embossing powder, then you ink the entire surface with a dark color, Chestnut Roan in this case. After that, you can wipe the ink off the embossed section revealing your originally stamped images!
The circle is from Inkadinkado, Round Frames set. I used the same emboss resist method. I punched a tag out of the same Bazzill paper. Using Color Box ink, in pink, I stamped the sentiment and embossed it in Blue Pearl. I finished the tage by brushing Color Box Chalk Inks, Chestnut Roan and Lime Pastel on the edges and surface. Finished the card with a Ghost flower from Heidi Swapp. Added a touch of bling and done!

I will make a card today!

If I say it enough times, it should happen. I spend more time surfing the internet for inspiration than I do actually making cards. I went on a Dollar store trip yesterday and found some items I hope to repurpose for card making use. I’ll share when I have samples, having said that, I am turning on my music and getting out my supplies. I am going to make a card today, I am going to make…

Meet a Design Team member

Yes, I am on a DT! I am a proud new member of the My Sketch World Card DT! I have the privilege of working with 13 other team members for the next year. Funny thing is...My dog ate my submission. No, really, He dug it out of my bag and chewed on the top of the card. What can I say? He appreciates a good design. This is a picture of my submission. Hope you like it!

I hope to make contact with all the team members and start getting to know everyone. Some of the very prepared have already made contact. I am usually moderately prepared so I will not be the first to submit or make contact.

I am still working on my unmounted stamps. Decided to keep most of my medium and large stamps mounted. I did discover Paper Trunk, all recycled papers. Figured it went along with my recent green theme. Check them out.
Have a super Thursday!
P.S. Thanks Lisa for giving me a chance!

Life gets in the way...

I mentioned my new-to-me craft organizers a few days ago and here is my embellishment organizer. Isn’t it lovely?! Love how my scissors and small ruler fit just perfect, so transportable and so ROY G BIV! Forget paper crafting, I am just going to search the thrift world for ways to store all my supplies!

Keeping up with a blog is a lot of work. I have tried to update my posy several times, but life keeps getting in the way. Yesterday, I went to Birmingham with my Dad. Really, I chauffeured him to the doctor's office. He was following up on what Katie Couric suggests we all do at his age. Catch my drift? Fun for me, not for him. I spent the day with my cousin! We had a great time!

Went to Crestwood Coffee Company for a cup of joe - now, I a not a coffee drinker, so one cup gets me REALLY going. Just so happens that right next door was a great antiques/junk store - of course, we BROWESED! I found my mother a gift, not sure, when she will get it and I added a great black teapot to my collection. Did I mention I collect teapots? Usually only buy those on special occasions - spending the day in Bham with Tatum, qualifies.

Lunch was delicious at the Bottle Tree Cafe and we spent the afternoon at local galleries. I particularly enjoyed Naked Art! I finished the day by giving blood while I waited on my Dad to wake up from his procedure. Now, I hope to make some cards in the next few days. It is such a challenge to make a card for a challenge. Still waiting to hear about My Sketch World DT

Have a wonderful hump day!

Productive weekend

Happy Monday, to ya!

I am not wearing green; I hope to be pinched today! Went thrift shopping this weekend. I am now the proud owner of a spice rack turned embellishment rack. It has a handle! Also, found a CD storage rack that I can stand on its side. Storage going up is much better that across my craft table! As soon as my new rechargeable batteries ($5.99 at Big Lots) are charged, I will share pictures of my new-to-me finds.

Also, spent time figuring out my stamp storage plan. I discovered that I could use Staz-on ink to stamp the image directly onto the CD case and forget making a new insert! Saves paper and less effort! I had a very, "Recycle, Reduce and Reuse" weekend,

I finished the weekend with my card club at Scrap Chic Boutique. We used Staz-on and stamped on acetate then painted the image with Making Memories acrylic paints. I had never done this technique and enjoyed the process. Time consuming to get a finish I liked, but fun!

I will send pictures when the camera is ready! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Sent it off to My Sketch World

Done! My first submission is complete. Should know by the 19th if I am a new member of the My Sketch World Card DT. So, what to do next....

How to avoid gluing...

So, I am having first time submission anxiety and figured the best way to avoid gluing is to shop and take a class. I hit the local big name scrap store for a new class yesterday. I had a good time making stationary. Then, I shopped. Everything was clearance, except for the souffle pins! Traffic was bad heading back into ATL so I decided to wait it out by visiting Joann's. Wow! The deals were amazing! I am fully stocked. This 40% off for National Craft Month really helps the dollar go farther. Ok, I am ready to finish my card! I'll post it as soon as I know about My Sketch World's DT results. Have a super Saturday!

Let the frustration begin

So, It appears I did something and now my slide show of cards will not play on the page. I have spent most of the morning trying to get it back up and running. If you have any thoughts on my problem, let me know.

Today, I plan to glue! I will attach all of my elements on my card for submission to My Sketch World. Big step for me! I am pleased with my creation and will share it with you after its completion. Would love to have it in my slide show, but as I said, not sure how to get that to work. Slightly bitter, but I am sure I will be over it by lunch time.

Happy Friday!

Ok, I am pitiful. I dreamed about the card I am working on for the My Sketch World Card DT call. I spent most of the afternoon working on my first card. As you can see, my cluttered craft space shows signs of creation. In the quick snap shot taken this morning, you can see the patterned paper I am using and several sets of clear stamps, few punches, an inkpad or two.

I shared my blog with a few friends and all reports seem positive. I did get feedback on my punctuation, but I can easily add a comma here and there. Thanks for your input! Feel free to let me know what you think. I am hoping to spice the page up with color and some digi scrapping, but I have to remind myself, baby steps. Have a fantastic day!

First time for everyting...

Well, as a person who refuses to join Myspace or Facebook, I find it funny that I am making a blog. But, I am working hard to develop a papercrafting business, actually just elevate my work past hobby status and this seems to be one way to get the ball rolling.

Asleep on the Couch(AOTC) has been with me for many years and it all stems from the fact that I would rather be asleep on the couch. SO much a problem, that I got rid of my couch. I dabbled in home produced bath products several years ago and came up with AOTC. It seems to have stuck.

Things you should know - I will continue to add as I create. Crafty Dreams lists the bloggers and sites I look to for motivation, inspiration, and basic needs - not including food, clothing, and water.

Not sure how this will evolve, I am excited to see what comes next. I did not wake up this morning and know I would have a blog by lunch. Some days, I really amaze myself. Have a great day!
