November My Sketch World Card

Looks like my card is not going to make it up on the My Sketch World page, so I am sharing it. I know the picture is a little fuzzy. I am researching new cameras for Santa to bring on Christmas morning. Inside the card is a dangling spider. Sorry I forgot to get a picture before I mailed the card to my nephew.

Now that I am moved, I am working on getting a VERY small section of my VERY small house set up as my studio space. Good thing I am headed home for Thanksgiving, I am thankful for the local IKEA. So, that means I may get Holiday cards made before the New Year arrives.

I do not have my product list with me. I may or may not be posting from work ;). If you are interested in knowing who made the DP and other stuff on the card leave me a comment and I will be happy to share.

So, please have a happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy the time you have with family and friends. BE safe as you travel and create wonderful memories.

Sally

Two Months and I am still crafting out of boxes

In an effort not to bore you with the mundane aspects of my transitional life, I have not been posting. Crafting out of boxes really does not lead to much creative activity. In the past two months, I have made ONE card! I am ashamed to call myself a paper crafter. Alas, I am moving into my final (OK well, more permanent than the vacation rental I currently occupy) house. It is a cute little cottage and I know that my creative juices will flow freely once I get everything unpacked and in its place. At my rate of getting settled, that should be sometime next summer. I will be posting more regularly after Thanksgiving.

How will I ever become the paper craft entreprenuer that I want to be if I do not start creating and posting. For now, I will put up sneak peaks of my newest My Sketch World card. Like much of my life, I am a little behind, so this is a spooky card that I made for my nephew. Christmas cards are still in the I plan to make them stage.

Did I mention that my camera is taking worse and worse pictures. I know, the camera is operated by me, but I am pretty sure it just need to go to the place where aging cameras spend their senior years and I need to pick up a much younger version. Happy Crafting!

Evacuate?! I just got here...

Well, I made it to Savannah just in time for Hanna! I have not unpacked my car for fear I will be evacuated the minute I unload my craft supplies. Not so sure renting a place at the beach was a good idea. Hopefully, I will be able to enjoy it after Hanna and Ike and Josephine pass through the area...

Where oh where has Sally gone?

She is in Savannah, GA. New job and living in the La Quinta. Amazing how much effort it takes to pack, store and relocate. All of my lovely paper craft supplies are packed in boxes and I am missing them. I hope to have a small collection of tools and paper available in September. Of course, I am now in a city with Michael's, Joann's, AC Moore and local scrap stores. I may purchase as much as I already own before I unpack my boxes.

Once I get "situated" in my temporary apartment, I will start posting regularly. I did not get a chance to remind you to check out the latest cards on My Sketch World. So, go by and have a look. We are taking the month of September off, so look for sneak peeks and updates in October. I am off to work. Have a great day!

Sparkle and Shine!

What a great day! My A/C is out, but it is raining, so I am not totally dying. Plus, I love the rain! My dogs are not so happy. My newest card is an experiment in digi-hybrid card making, acetate and stamps.
The base is acetate folded using my Scor-Pal. On the inside back, I adhered a solid piece of sparkle silver paper slightly smaller than the acetate. My inside front is a digital clear frame with glitter accents, layered with digital fireworks. On the outside front, I attached Happy 4th stamped in chalk ink on a small squared with rounded corners and edged in chalk ink. Finally, I used clear firework stickers attached to acetate as layered embellishments. Ta da!
Photographing acetate is hard, so I am not sure this picture does it justice, but you get the picture. Pun intended, hee, hee.
Off to my stamp club meeting. I'll say it again, what a great day!
Silver paper: Archiver's Yours Truly
Acetate: Grafixx
Digital Images: Beckie Wallace Designs, Sugarplum Paperie, Lindsay Jane Designs
Stamp: Stampendous

Back with Bang!

Surprise! I am still making cards, just not posting on my blog. In this case, no news is just plan no news. I am still looking for a full-time job, but nothing is working in my favor. One more interview tomorrow, so cross your fingers. I included a teaser of my My Sketch World card for this month. You probably figured out the theme, but, I have a few tricks up my sleeve. The MSW DT samples will post on the 12th so make sure you check the site for all the great creations! Have a super day!

Job Interviews

This week, I am interviewing for two, maybe three jobs. Keep you fingers crossed, so I get an offer. Then I can afford this hobby. SO, needless to say, I have not been creating. We do have a My Sketch World sketch coming out on the 14th so I am sharing my sneak peek with you. OK, back to work on my presentation for tomorrow's interview. Happy Wednesday!

One more to go...

I may head north to the mountains for a few days, no computer there, so I might be MIA, again, for a short time. It is so hard to commit to the drive, because it takes so much money to buy the gas to make the trip. I am still in debates with myself, if you don't see any new post, then I guess I decided to splurge and go.

Before I go, I wanted to post my other 2S4Y card made from Laura's sketch. I pulled out the Bug for this one! It is kind of a Monet. In that you need to look at the card from a distance, not close up. My execution is a little sloppy. I was trying many new techniques. I learned from my mistakes, but did not start over after each flaw. What do they say about flaws adding character? Plus, my camera is taking horrible pictures. Really want a new camera, but it is close to the bottom of the list of wants and needs. Oh, well, you still get the picture. Hee, hee ;).
Card base: Joann's Paper Craft Essentials
CS: DCWV Neutrals
PP: American Crafts
Black and Red ribbon
Watercolor pencils, Dove Blender, and bling
Sentiment printed from computer
Now, all I have left is a birthday card for my dad!
Happy Day!

One down, at least 2 to go...

I committed to creating and I followed through. I finished my first card using the 2 Sketches 4 You sketch by Kazan. If you notice in my bio info, I mentioned my niece and nephew are scheduled to arrive in September. We are excited about the twins. I really worry about what my nephew, the soon to be big brother, will do when they arrive. My brother liked me for about a day and then wanted to know when I was going back to the hospital. I was so cute, who could blame him.

So, I made this card for my brother for Father's Day. I was eager to ink up my Papertrey Ink stamps and using my new bottle of flock. So here is the recipe:

Images: Papertrey Ink Bitty Baby Blessings

PP: Daisy D's

CS: Papertrey Aqua Mist

Card base: Joann's Paper Essentials blank cards

Punches: Threading Water Fiskars punch, corner rounder

Misc buttons and bling
Don't you just love the flocked duck on the onesie?! So let me know what you think. I am off to see Sex and the City! Possibly, more creations tomorrow. Kazan said I have to make a card from both sketches. I'll try. Have a great day!

6.01.2008

Surprise, I am still alive!

I know, I know. Has she dropped off the face of the earth? I know what you are thinking. At least I hope you have noticed I have been MIA for a week or so. A big cloud moved in and I was having a tough time finding the silver lining. Spent today with my nephew and magically the silver lining was so obvious. SO, tomorrow, I am going to create. I have a sketch for My Sketch World due soon and I am excited about a new sketch blog that one of my fellow MSW DT members, Kazan Clark, launched today, 2 Sketches 4 You. You should stop by and see the great sketches! Hope to have something to post tomorrow evening. Regardless, Happy Monday!

My Sketch World Card

I noticed that I had not posted my My Sketch World card, just linked to it from a post. Well, that will not do. Here are the details,
DCWV CS embossed with Cuttle Bug folders, Daisy D's PP, Cosmo Cricket Chipboard, flowers, brads, skittles (painted on back with metallic paint), American Crafts ribbons, sentiment from Inque Boutique's Quotopia. Throw in some chalk ink for edging and ColorBox in dark brown for the sentiment. Let me know what you think...

Next edition of Blog, What to Wear!

Look at what I did! This outfit is so slimming and such great colors for my blog. Don't you agree? I used Raspberry Road Designs' Happy Kitchen digital scrap papers and elements to make my new banner. Now that I have it all figured out, I may make a new outfit each week. FYI, I used Microsoft Office Publisher to create the image.

At yesterday's stamp club meeting Gloria told me she had acknowledge me on her blog. Well, that makes me feel super great and I wanted to make sure you got a chance to see her blog, Stamping and Creating. I love that her pictures are taken right in the kitchen. What a great backdrop for her creations.

I need to get back in a creative grove. I am collecting sketches and filing them on my computer so I can sit down and get creative when it strikes. Now it just needs to strike. I have a great conversation with one of my stamp club friends about how we spend more time figuring out how to store everything and not enough time on how to actually make cards and layouts. We decided we need to focus on making. OK, no card because the new banner is my big reveal for today. Happy Monday!

5.17.2008

Knock, knock...

It has been 5 days since I posted. Really, time is flying. Must mean I am having fun. Well, I've had more fun, but I will say I am doing well. I am continuing the owl theme. Yet another friend has moved away. She is on the road to Memphis as I type. If many more people leave the area, I will be in a panic to find more friends. I figure I have some new places to visit. Of course, that takes money and I am running a little low, so I will dream of visiting for now. Gas is toooooo expensive to travel! OK, on to the card and other fun...

I lifted this idea from Hero Arts and used my Technique Tuesday alphabet stamps as well as a Studio G by Hampton Art image. I started very last minute, so it is a simple card. First, stamp your letters. I used Stazon ink in black. Then using cheap post-it notes, mask off the letter and stamp your smaller image, in this case, owls. I colored the owls using colored pencils and Goo Gone spray gel, works just as well as Gamisol and smells better, probably not as toxic, either.
My favorite part is the inside. Again, Technique Tuesday Alphabet stamps and Hero Art images. Both parts are layered on DCWV textured card. I finished the card off with three skittles from my extensive collection purchased on clearance at Mike's. I hope she liked the card. I was too sad, so I left it on her car before she left. I am not so good at good-byes.
Finally, the My Sketch World DT creations were posted yesterday. Lucy has been feeling poorly, so they are a little late. I say better late than never! I hope she feels better soon. GO check them out. I love what the other DT members did with this sketch. Plus, we are starting to post tutorials. I am trying to decide what I will do as my tutorial. If you have any ideas or want to get a more detailed explanation of something I have posted here, PLEASE let me know. I will make it my first tutorial.

WHOOOO's the BEST MOM

Hope everyone had a great Mom's Day. I had dinner with the family, had my toes done, and caught up on TIVO. This is the card I made for my mom. Love the Hero Arts Sparkle Clear You Hoo Owls so I decided to use them. I printed the sentiment on my computer. The MOON is a post-it with Versa Mark embossed with iridescent blue clear powder. I was desperate to make a moon. On a whim, I grabbed my post-its and just dabbled to see what would emerge. Well, I feel pretty good about the final result. The smaller picture is the inside of the card. Mom loved it and my nephew was very excited by the moon and owl.

I also made a card for my SIL. She is the reason I am a God Mother, so I am very thankful for her. (OK, I appreciate other things about her, but that applies to the whole Mom's Day theme.) I used some Daisy D's PP, PP I picked up at Hobby Lobby, my cuttle bug and added some skittles. I used a dimensional glue dot to adhere the flower so it pops more than you see in the picture. It is becoming apparent, that I love the Happy Day stamp. I use it all the time. It is just so versatile. OK, I am off to sleep. Have a great Monday!

Sneak Peek 2 and more organization

Only a few days until the MSW sketch is posted. This my last sneak peak. Hope you will check out what all the DT members made on the 10th. I wanted to share my method for storing the Martha Stewart long punches. I am pretty excited because most of my hooks were free! I got my shelf from the local thrift store and believe it or not, it came that lovely shade of green. It matches my Cuttle Bug! Only paid $3.99. Recycled for real cheap! (Please ignore the mess, I am trying to get organized, but can't seem to figure out where to start.)

Candy, Sneak Peek, and more

Happy Monday!

I am feeling better and my dad is getting better. Not sure if I mentioned he was in the hospital. Nothing major, for now. My candy karma continues. I just got an email from Sarah Schwerin all the way from Austrailia and I won her blog candy. She is on the DT for Darkroom Door. I love what she does with the images! Please stop by and check out her work and Darkroom Door.

Next, it is almost time for the My Sketch World card challenge. I sent my card to Lucy yesterday and I am posting sneak peaks until the 10th when she post the challenge. I took a departure from my usual bright colors. I am very proud of this card and hope you like the finished product. More glimpses to come in the next few days. Go check out what the layout DT did with Lucy's most recent challenge. By the way, she is offering a chance for the DT to post tutorials on MSW. Do you have any thing you want to learn more about related to stamping, scrapping, pretty much anything? Maybe you have seen something on my cards you would like explained. I'll do the research and put together a tutorial. Let me know. have some blog candy for my readers, all ten of you, and that might be stretching it a little. Have a super week!
Hope everyone was able to do something crafty on NSD. I made some additions to my stash and made some adjustments to my crafting space. I'll share pictures later this week. Maybe I'll even pass along some candy karma and

5.04.2008

NSD means Blog Candy

Since I am struggling with back and hip issues, I am not really creating a lot, so I figure I will share some candy opportunities with you. Check out Kitty's Krafty Blog for the chance to win some coooool stuff! I encourage you to cruise around and see what is out there for NSD! I have a million challenges I want to complete, but I am headed back to bed in the near future. Have a great day! I promise, a card is coming VERY soon.

5.03.2008

Shout Out to SheetLoad

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!
To honor the day, I wanted to direct you to SheetLoad, a GREAT ezine that inspires and motivtes. Well, I least I think so. Please check out the April Issue. I hope that you find it as wonderful as I do.

I should be making more post today and tomorrow. Go scrap or stamp or nap what ever floats your boat on NSD!

Candy for Sally

I swear, I have never been so lucky, but when it comes to blog candy I am charmed. I got a comment from Di Hickman yesterday and she suggested I check out her blog. Well, I won her Friday Freebie, LOTS and Lots of FLOWERS! Yippee for me! Di is amazing. She has accomplished so much in the paper crafting world, other worlds, too, I am sure, but I can only read her craft resume. Go by and check out her blog, she can really inspire! Di, Thanks so much for my Flowers. I can't wait to use them.

4.28.2008

My Sketch World

Just realized I never posted my sketch for the last challenge at MSW. (Picture quality is a little bit of an issue, but I can't afford a new camera so forgive the image flaws) You should see how everyone created something unique from the same sketch. The newest sketch is up and the DT did a great job making cards. I am working on my next interpretation of Lucy's sketch. They will post on May 10. Off to Hobby Lobby for 50% off Bling! Have a great day!

Gift for a friend and I [heart} Cricut

I am sad to say my friend is moving to Cincinnati. I made her this journal as a going away gift. I figured she can use it to handle the emotion of relocating or make it her place to keep all the information that comes from moving . You know, the address of new nail place, dry cleaners, neat stores to visit and new places to eat, etc. The journal was in the $1 section at Joann and I spiced it up a little by adding a bookmark, the paper clip, section tabs and the great embellishment on the front. I even went through the journal and stamped each page with a motivational quote from Inque Boutique's, Quotopia set. Sorry to see her go, but so glad she is happy with the next phase in her life!

We had a big party for her last night and I needed a gift bag for the journal and several other goodies I gave her. Enter the new Cricut my mom gave me. At the last minute, I decided to recycle an old bag. When I say last minute, I mean my ride was coming at 6:45 and it was 5:20 when I started. Did I mention that I still needed to shower and get ready for the party? Needless to say, I whipped up this cute bag, and got ready with time to spare. I am good!

I hope you had a great weekend. I am enjoying the rain. More to come this week. Have a super day!

4.24.2008

Love these earrings

Everyday, I scroll through my google reader posts and see what is happening on my favorite sites and blogs. Well, today I came across a tutorial that I really loved and had to share with you. Check out these great Earrings and the lovely packaging! I may have to drag out my jewelry supplies to make a pair this weekend. Maybe more to come later today, Happy Friday!

4.22.2008

A little green for the Earth

FYI - I treated the recycled elements with archival spray so it would not ruin my cards and pages.

I promised I’d post again today and here it goes…
In honor of Earth Day, I wanted to share my recycled page elements. These are from my post consumer waste, a.k.a cereal and coke boxes. I made packets of the embellishment for the women in my stamp club at Scrap Chic Boutique. The great thing about them is that you can use the side with color, or use the other side just like you would chip board.

Now, for a card that I made to submit for the DT contest, but I missed the deadline. The post said Saturday, and I read Sunday. Oh, well, maybe next time.

Guess what? I am getting a card for My Sketch World ready for posting. Make sure to check the site on May 10 for the next sketch and samples by the DT.
OK, more to come later this week. I am working on a gift for a friend who is moving to Ohio and cards for other sketches. Have a super week!

Ladybugs for little ones

How long has it been since I last posted? TOO LONG! I am amazed at how quickly time passes. Just got a early morning call to nanny today, so my plans for an elaborate post have gone down the tubes. Quick and simple will have to do today.

My friend is going to be an aunt and the nursery is done in ladybugs so I painted this hook for her to give her new niece. I can't decide if I should add more detail or leave it simple. Right now, I am calling it finished.

I have a card to share as well, but the system is not letting me upload the image. So, I guess that means I will post later today. Have a super day!

4.16.2008

Final Sample

It is already Wednesday! What happened to Monday and Tuesday?! This is the last card sample for the group meeting this weekend! Several people have let me know they are excited about Inch, Inch, Moo. I was going to a card swap, but I remebered this Saturday is the Artist's Debut at Scrap Chic so I changed my plans. Got to support the LSS. I am planning to spend Thursday afternoon working on cards, organizing, and getting ready for a yard sale. Lofty goals, but I am going to try. Have a great Thursday!

By the way, I received my blog candy from Sue (see April 4 post). Love the magazine, the stamps, all the goodies! THANKS for sharing.

4.13.2008

Scrap Chic Boutique Club Meeting

This time next week, I will be working with the lovely ladies at Scrap Chic Boutique to create cards from my session called, Inch, Inch, Moo. I posted a sample earlier and this is the second of the three I made. I'll post the last one mid-week. Hope you like!

Already on the wrong foot..

So, I started my day by reading an email from Lucy at MySketchWorld that asked if I had made anything for the card sketch. Well, no, because I never got any information. SO, sad. All the cards look so lovely on the slide show, mine is just missing. Not to fear, I am going to get busy making a card and send it to Lucy. Hopefully, she will add the late addition.
But, I did complete Beate's Weekend Challenge and a Lizzie Anne Designs challenge. See exhibit A (right) and B (left). They are mostly paper and ink with a little ribbon thrown in for good measure. Let me know what you think. OK, I am off to work on my card for MSW. Check out the site later to see what I make. Have a super Sunday!

4.11.2008

Friday Fun!

Happy Friday! I finally have a card to post. It is a sneak peek into my upcoming card club meeting. As you can tell, it is a holiday card. My stash of stamps is mostly holiday so that is what I had to work with for my samples. Everyone else can choose what ever she wants to use. In honor of the holiday theme, I took my card outside a photographed it in front of my Christmas tree trimmings. Pitiful, I know. I still have tree trimmings on my table in that back yard. Sad, actually. Now you can tell why the class is called, "Inch, Inch, and Moo". The elements are inchies (google,"Stamp Inchies) and Moos. I have two more samples to share over the week, so keep checking back for more cards.

Maybe I can get busy o some other cards while I wait on the exterminator, not Arnold, just the local pest guy. I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

4.10.2008

Shout out to DTizzle

Ok, you are probably wondering who is Dtizzle. DT is a long time friend and the giver of my lovely new teapot and cups, cast iron with dragonflies. To say I have wanted these for a while is an understatement. DT came into town for a visit and left these on the bed for me to find. I was pleasantly surprised!

The dragonfly on top of the teapot balances on the tip of its nose, if dragonflies have noses. I had to do a little surgery on it because Linus liked it and tried to eat it. However, as you can see, good as new! I REALLY love my gifts!

I finished all my samples for the stamp club at Scrap Chic Boutique. I am sending a supply list the group in bits so no one gets overwhelmed. I hope everyone gets something out of the meeting.

I also signed up for a local card swap! Pretty excited to meet local crazy card people. I have to make 20 cards and bring supplies for 20 more, must get busy! I’ll post a sample when I finish it. I have an idea for an Etsy store, came to me as I lulled myself to sleep last night. When I get it, all figured out, I’ll let you know. Have a super evening!

4.08.2008

Mostly Shout Outs

Today, I have a list of things to accomplish. I am supposed to be applying for jobs, but I am taking care of my creative stuff, first. Well, It appears that after years of never winning anything, I am rolling in the blog candy. I got an email yesterday from Shelley at Stampin' and a scrappin' letting me know I won one of her bits o'candy! I am most excited because it includes some Prima flowers! Never had any of those and very excited to play with them. Shelley has an Etsy store, you should check it out.

Also, while surfing this morning, I discovered http://www.paperclipping.com/. Podcast and video of great stamping stuff. I watched a great clip of Dedra Long's stamping room. SO jealous of her space! So check it out.

By tonight, I hope to have a few more cards completed, applied for at least 5 jobs and maybe figured out how to make some money on Etsy. Ok, that is a little adventerous, but set high goals and you may reach them.

4.07.2008

Monday, Monday...

Happy Monday! My weekend was nice. Topped it off with a walk in the park with the dogs. With all the rain we have had lately, they are a eager to get out of the house. So, no more cards this weekend. I did start work on the card club class. This is a sneak peak into my class samples. Just blurry enough to not be clear and just clear enough to look like holiday images. What will we make?

A few weeks ago, I help Colleen S. of Distinctive Touches name her upcoming card class. Jeri B. from Memories from the Attic sent me some blog candy for helping out Colleen. Well, I had a package in the mail yesterday, forgot to check the mail on Saturday. Jeri sent great stuff, beautiful papers, flowers, even corduroy flowers, cat eye ink, ribbon and some Heidi Swapp Sparkle! Can't wait to play with it all. Thanks, again, for sharing the candy with me.
Off to nanny, Have a great day!

4.05.2008

Beate's Challenge

Finally broke down and completed a card for Beate's Challenge. I am not feeling very creative. My result is ok, but I really am not too wowed. So, I'll just keep trying.

Named my class for Scrap Chic Boutique, "Inch, Inch, Moo." If you are a part of the group and read this, it should pique your interest. Now, I just need to make some samples and create a supplies list. Thank goodness, I always have tomorrow, except when it is all the sudden the day before the event. But, in this case, I still have time.
Big sale at Michael's. I plan to visit first thing tomorrow. Just got a Cuttlebug and really want to buy some folders. One more toy for me to play with and clutter my craft table. I love it!

4.04.2008

Friday Fun!

Oh, Boy! It is Friday and I am having FUN! I have not posted because I spent the morning looking at other blogs, websites, emails, etc. I could sit here all day and see what everyone else is doing. I joined the Lizzie Anne Designs forum and signed up for the newsletter. Love their images and site.

I also looked in my SPAM folder and discovered I won some more CANDY! Thanks to SueB at Blondin Blogs. She asked how I signed my cards and I told her about my Asleep on the Couch stamp. If I ever reach a milestone on my blog, I will offer candy, too.

I am looking for a job, so I get a little down when a lead does not turn into an offer which happened this week. I try and remind myself that life could be much worse. One way is by creating so this is my latest card to remind me to Be Happy! I am quite proud of this card. Plus, the chip board was from a set I got at Big Lots for $1.99!
I hope to do some challenge work this weekend. Have a happy day and a great weekend!

4.03.2008

Back to saying, "I will make a card today" ...

I've been so busy, I have not created a thing. So sad! I have a few things to do around the house, but I will make a card today. I did find some great baby items in the Target dollar section. We are going to welcome twins in the fall, Aunt Sally again and again, so I am getting ready. Found out Wednesday they are a boy and a girl!

I do have a few cards left to share from my last big creation day. This one was pretty simple. The image is a stamp from Imaginations. I used color pencil and baby oil gel to add color. Then de-stressed the edges as well as added ink. Using my heart punch, I made the decorative edge added ribbon and some light green bling. My favorite part is the color! Big impact!
I am leading the card club meeting later this month at Scrap Chic Boutique. I need to start playing with my ideas so I can develop the class. So, I should be posting my play creations soon. It's almost the weekend! Have a super day!

4.02.2008

Fresh, cool morning

Good morning! I really do enjoy sitting at my desk with the backdoor open and feeling a slight chill in the air, but knowing it will warm up quickly. My very busy convention is coming to a close, thank goodness. I did not make the Scrapbook Express DT. I know the people that did will be a great team. Check out their work over the next six months at Scrapbook Express.I am looking forward to what they create!

I love getting mail. The whole process of finding something new in the box and opening it really makes me happy. So, imagine how happy I was when I had a package in the mail on Monday. The package was full of Blog Candy from Kelly at Daisy Girl. She picked my color combo as her winner. The envelope was full of ribbon, three clear stamps and mini album and a great card. Thanks to Kelly for the goodies.

So how about a card. This one is more simple than most of my cards, as of late. Everything is turning from brown to green, so I made a card that does the same. The bright new green that I see on most trees, plants, bushes, right now is very stimulating. The image is from Magenta. I inked it with markers and really like the impression it makes. Hope you are enjoying the green around you. If spring has not yet sprung in your world, hold on, it's coming!
Happy Wednesday!

3.29.2008

Big Weekend

I am at a Professional Convention all weekend interviewing for jobs! I made motivational items for friends also interviewing. Every bit helps. I submited for the Scrapbook Express DT. We find out on Tuesday. Keep your fingers crossed. Better yet, keep your fingers crossed for a new job for ME. Then I can afford to do all this card making. Have a super Saturday!

3.28.2008

Over the badness

I am ALIVE! It was touch and go for a while, OK not really, but it felt like it. Still a little shaky, but I am back in business. So, I am trying to post my submissions for the Scrapbook Express DT call and I am having no luck getting my pictures uploaded. I am sure it is complete user error, but I have no clue how to make it work. I sent another plea to the webmaster to help me. We'll see what happens.

Back to sharing number 3 out of 4. I ended up loving the color combo, which is out of my character. The dark green circle behind the happy day is shelf liner from the dollar store, probably not acid free, but I like the effect and cheap, to boot.

Before I go, I wanted to say thanks to Colleen S. of Distinctive Touches and Jeri B. from Memories from the Attic for sharing some blog candy with me. Colleen needed a name for her new card class and I came up with Keep'em Coming Cards. She made a few adjustments, but stuck with Keep'em Coming. Jeri B. donated the candy. So thank you, ladies! I can't wait for my package to arrive.

Happy Friday!

No good

I am SICK! My nephew has brought the badness to the whole family. My dad is the only one not infected. Mom and I experienced the fun late last night and it continues today. Spending the day in bed.

More cards later today or tomorrow....

Number 2 of 4

As promised, I updated the post form yesterday so you would have the details. I did forget to mention yesterday’s card is based on the My Sketch World card sketch from March 7 - getting a jump-start on my DT assignments!

Next, I used an image from my Scrap Chic Card Club meeting as the focus. I mentioned how we stamped on acetate and then painted the imaged with acrylic paint – this is the final product. I created frames for the image using Bazzill paper and patterned paper from, Kelly Panacci by Sandylion. All were inked on the edges with Chestnut Roan Color Box Chalk ink. I used the scraps to create the flower embellishment on the bottom corner, added a few ribbon accents and VIOLA! I was on a roll. That is just two out of four. Really, love my homemade flower, so creative!

Not just one but FOUR

Apparently saying it enough does pay off... I made four cards on Saturday and Sunday. Next to my post is number one - I started with a white card added light green cardstock, Bazzill, I think. I aged both papers with Color Box Chalk Inks, Chestnut Roan and Lime Pastel. The Large panel, I made myself using the embossing resist method. I ink a piece of cardstock using multiple stamps and inks, Adirondack, Color Box, and Palette, to name a few. Then I used a Hero Arts shadow stamp, Versa Mark ink and Stamp-n Stuff to create the lines Blue Pearl embossing powders. Once you heat the embossing powder, then you ink the entire surface with a dark color, Chestnut Roan in this case. After that, you can wipe the ink off the embossed section revealing your originally stamped images!
The circle is from Inkadinkado, Round Frames set. I used the same emboss resist method. I punched a tag out of the same Bazzill paper. Using Color Box ink, in pink, I stamped the sentiment and embossed it in Blue Pearl. I finished the tage by brushing Color Box Chalk Inks, Chestnut Roan and Lime Pastel on the edges and surface. Finished the card with a Ghost flower from Heidi Swapp. Added a touch of bling and done!

I will make a card today!

If I say it enough times, it should happen. I spend more time surfing the internet for inspiration than I do actually making cards. I went on a Dollar store trip yesterday and found some items I hope to repurpose for card making use. I’ll share when I have samples, having said that, I am turning on my music and getting out my supplies. I am going to make a card today, I am going to make…

Meet a Design Team member

Yes, I am on a DT! I am a proud new member of the My Sketch World Card DT! I have the privilege of working with 13 other team members for the next year. Funny thing is...My dog ate my submission. No, really, He dug it out of my bag and chewed on the top of the card. What can I say? He appreciates a good design. This is a picture of my submission. Hope you like it!

I hope to make contact with all the team members and start getting to know everyone. Some of the very prepared have already made contact. I am usually moderately prepared so I will not be the first to submit or make contact.

I am still working on my unmounted stamps. Decided to keep most of my medium and large stamps mounted. I did discover Paper Trunk, all recycled papers. Figured it went along with my recent green theme. Check them out.
Have a super Thursday!
P.S. Thanks Lisa for giving me a chance!

Life gets in the way...

I mentioned my new-to-me craft organizers a few days ago and here is my embellishment organizer. Isn’t it lovely?! Love how my scissors and small ruler fit just perfect, so transportable and so ROY G BIV! Forget paper crafting, I am just going to search the thrift world for ways to store all my supplies!

Keeping up with a blog is a lot of work. I have tried to update my posy several times, but life keeps getting in the way. Yesterday, I went to Birmingham with my Dad. Really, I chauffeured him to the doctor's office. He was following up on what Katie Couric suggests we all do at his age. Catch my drift? Fun for me, not for him. I spent the day with my cousin! We had a great time!

Went to Crestwood Coffee Company for a cup of joe - now, I a not a coffee drinker, so one cup gets me REALLY going. Just so happens that right next door was a great antiques/junk store - of course, we BROWESED! I found my mother a gift, not sure, when she will get it and I added a great black teapot to my collection. Did I mention I collect teapots? Usually only buy those on special occasions - spending the day in Bham with Tatum, qualifies.

Lunch was delicious at the Bottle Tree Cafe and we spent the afternoon at local galleries. I particularly enjoyed Naked Art! I finished the day by giving blood while I waited on my Dad to wake up from his procedure. Now, I hope to make some cards in the next few days. It is such a challenge to make a card for a challenge. Still waiting to hear about My Sketch World DT

Have a wonderful hump day!

Productive weekend

Happy Monday, to ya!

I am not wearing green; I hope to be pinched today! Went thrift shopping this weekend. I am now the proud owner of a spice rack turned embellishment rack. It has a handle! Also, found a CD storage rack that I can stand on its side. Storage going up is much better that across my craft table! As soon as my new rechargeable batteries ($5.99 at Big Lots) are charged, I will share pictures of my new-to-me finds.

Also, spent time figuring out my stamp storage plan. I discovered that I could use Staz-on ink to stamp the image directly onto the CD case and forget making a new insert! Saves paper and less effort! I had a very, "Recycle, Reduce and Reuse" weekend,

I finished the weekend with my card club at Scrap Chic Boutique. We used Staz-on and stamped on acetate then painted the image with Making Memories acrylic paints. I had never done this technique and enjoyed the process. Time consuming to get a finish I liked, but fun!

I will send pictures when the camera is ready! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Sent it off to My Sketch World

Done! My first submission is complete. Should know by the 19th if I am a new member of the My Sketch World Card DT. So, what to do next....

How to avoid gluing...

So, I am having first time submission anxiety and figured the best way to avoid gluing is to shop and take a class. I hit the local big name scrap store for a new class yesterday. I had a good time making stationary. Then, I shopped. Everything was clearance, except for the souffle pins! Traffic was bad heading back into ATL so I decided to wait it out by visiting Joann's. Wow! The deals were amazing! I am fully stocked. This 40% off for National Craft Month really helps the dollar go farther. Ok, I am ready to finish my card! I'll post it as soon as I know about My Sketch World's DT results. Have a super Saturday!

Let the frustration begin

So, It appears I did something and now my slide show of cards will not play on the page. I have spent most of the morning trying to get it back up and running. If you have any thoughts on my problem, let me know.

Today, I plan to glue! I will attach all of my elements on my card for submission to My Sketch World. Big step for me! I am pleased with my creation and will share it with you after its completion. Would love to have it in my slide show, but as I said, not sure how to get that to work. Slightly bitter, but I am sure I will be over it by lunch time.

Happy Friday!

Ok, I am pitiful. I dreamed about the card I am working on for the My Sketch World Card DT call. I spent most of the afternoon working on my first card. As you can see, my cluttered craft space shows signs of creation. In the quick snap shot taken this morning, you can see the patterned paper I am using and several sets of clear stamps, few punches, an inkpad or two.

I shared my blog with a few friends and all reports seem positive. I did get feedback on my punctuation, but I can easily add a comma here and there. Thanks for your input! Feel free to let me know what you think. I am hoping to spice the page up with color and some digi scrapping, but I have to remind myself, baby steps. Have a fantastic day!

First time for everyting...

Well, as a person who refuses to join Myspace or Facebook, I find it funny that I am making a blog. But, I am working hard to develop a papercrafting business, actually just elevate my work past hobby status and this seems to be one way to get the ball rolling.

Asleep on the Couch(AOTC) has been with me for many years and it all stems from the fact that I would rather be asleep on the couch. SO much a problem, that I got rid of my couch. I dabbled in home produced bath products several years ago and came up with AOTC. It seems to have stuck.

Things you should know - I will continue to add as I create. Crafty Dreams lists the bloggers and sites I look to for motivation, inspiration, and basic needs - not including food, clothing, and water.

Not sure how this will evolve, I am excited to see what comes next. I did not wake up this morning and know I would have a blog by lunch. Some days, I really amaze myself. Have a great day!
